IntroductionState bridge engineers are fed up with paint failures. Short-term "solutions", such as painting, are no longer acceptable. Low life-cycle-cost alternatives are gaining favor. Engineers know the true cost of paints-perpetual-poor-performance and recognize metalizings unequaled record of effectiveness. THESE ENGINEERS respect the value of the taxpayers dollars, and WE wish to support them and their use of metalizing. This website is presented as a service to those interested in metalizing steel bridges in the United States. This website serves the bridge and the metalizing industries by:
Many state DOTs and toll authorities have taken the initiative to metalize both new and existing bridges. The momentum continues to build in these metalizing organizations. However, some DOTs are restrained by bureaucracy, inertia, or are otherwise blocked from implementing a low-life-cycle-cost metalizing program. We expect that eventually the non-metalizing states will also use metalizing as a means of conserving resources, including tax dollars. So, we encourage all bridge owners to adopt a Life-Cycle-Cost (LCC) policy and to include metalizing, the low-life-cycle-cost coating, in their bridge design and maintenance programs. We look forward to assisting in that effort.
